In this remake of the 1947 film OUT OF THE PAST, Terry Brogan (Jeff Bridges) is a handsome football player, who has been a top player for his team, the Outlaws. But after he suffers a shoulder injury, the team suddenly fires him, leaving Brogan out of a job and out of money. Nightclub owner Jake Wise (James Woods) hires Brogan to hunt down his runaway girlfriend and the $50,000 she stole from him. Out of options and with Jake holding one of Brogan's old mistakes over his head, Brogan reluctantly agrees. In beautiful Cozumel, Mexico, he not only finds the girl (Rachel Ward) but falls in love with her. However, their romance is shattered when he realizes there's a lot more to the story than Wise told him. In over his head, Brogan finds himself in a fight for the girl, his career, and his survival.
