j hud will probably play the same role over and over, but nothing really wrong with that if she plays them well and distinctfully

The only noms The Prestige should have gotten were a Supporting Actor for Bowie and maybe maybe an actor for Jackman. I'd say maybe Bale, but come on it was painfully obvious he was **Spoiler alert** Fallon in make-up. The movie as it was took so long to reach it's conclusions that I and most of the free world had already figured them out a half hour earlier. I think the story of Tesla's rivalry with Edison would have made a far more interesting film.

I thought it was a good year as most of the films I liked won something, The Departed won four(Scorsese and picture hell yeah), Pan's three, Little Miss Sunshine two(very happy that Arkin won), and Pirates one. I wish Hudson hadn't won, as I wasn't impressed with her at all in Dreamgirls but oh well.

Ellen vacuuming = dumbest bit of the night. I almost didn't have enough time to switch over to ESPN before I shot myself from the stupidity.

I wish Graham had invited Marty on stage during his speech, I think it would have been classy. Kind of an "up yours" to the Academy and their years of neglect.

The Lives of Others was much better than Pan's Labyrinth, I thought. I bet all the Pan's fanboys haven't even seen it (The Lives of Others).

For what it's worth, I loved both Pan's Labyrinth and The Lives of Others, so I would have been happy with either one winning.

I'm glad that CARS didn't win, but I think MONSTER HOUSE was the best of the three animation nominations.

Everyone's going to cry about PAN'S LABYRINTH not winning best foreign language film, even though they've never seen the other nominees (it's the only one I've seen so I really can't complain). I think the foreign film category is idiotic to begin with. No matter where a film is made, if it's good enough it should have a chance in the best picture category.

I'm glad that Morricone got a good amount of time to speak.

i saw scotland it was amazing, forrest deserves that oscar he was brillant; however, the only person robbed and was neglected was PETER OTOOLE 8 times and no win. he is one of the top ten of actors to ever grace this planet, he has given some of the top performances of all time; forrest was great but i saw venus and otoole was just as good and couple that with that fact he has never won and has been nominated 8 times he deserved it, and if he doesnt win it will be the single greatest travesty of the entire history of the academy awards (and there are alot, richard burton 7 noms no win that bad).

I'M HAPPY "BABEL" DID NOT WIN!!! YEAH!!
My God, I was so worried that BLOATED, OVER-RATED, boring and disjointed film was said by so many to win "Best Film". I'm glad that did NOT happen, and "The Departed" won over the over-rated "Babel", which the critics seemed to kiss-ass of, almost every day... Scorcese's film is FAR superior and far better in almost every single way.

"Babel" felt to me, like something someone stuck together with duct-tape, and it felt like that when watching it (I want my money back!)--- and that scence in the end where the chinese daughter stand naked before her father made me feel only one single emotion. It was not pity or anything sentimental.

I felt just DISGUST at that unneccesary scene. But then again, I blame myself for not walking out of that bore-fest, halfway into the movie--- when it was clear that the disjointed movie did nothing to me--- and that Brad Pitt's name and (short) over-rated acting (he did much better in "12 Monkeys"...) were put there by the directors simply to put a BIG name on the posters, and bring in viewers that way...

Anyway, I'm the HAPPIEST that "The Departed" won instead of that boring "Babel".

I actually did not watch the Oscars (i played Okami and Black instead...and a good thing seeing as DeGeneres apparently did a crappy job). Reading over the wins...I find it flat-out appalling that Children of Men did not win best cinematography. I loved both Pan's and COM, but clearly COM had the immensely better camera movements (come on! the bike scene??! that was fucking amazing!) And I may get flak for this one, but I also find it sad that the Departed is the film Scorcese won best director on. Not that he didn't deserve it, but that after all these years, after all the great films he's made, it's this one that he gets it for. He needed it a long time ago. I guess it seems somewhat of a damned-if-he-does and damned-if-he-doesn't-win situation, but honestly, he's done better, even though I do believe the Departed was one of the best films of last year. And Melissa Ethridge won?! Jesus. H. Christ. Well now she can die happy with a nice big Oscar on her grave. She's a bland, monotonous musician, who plays the litest of rock and only continues to get recognition for her bout with cancer (whooptey-shit). I haven't seen the film, but I had heard the Dreamgirl's song and Jennifer Hudson singing "Love You I Do" was great. I hate American Idol, but you can't deny someone their talents.

Personally, although I didn't see him on the show, Seinfeld would be a fantastic host for the Oscars.

Still it was a great movie, it was ten times better than Babel, or Pan, or even the Queen, now i am so happy The Departed won but the Prestige should of been nominated for best picture.

Yea and also Children of Men in my opinion, maybe it came along too late... Little Miss Sunshine could have lost a spot to CoM, I think.

Babel should have lost its spot to CoM. I saw all 3 of the Three Amigos' films this year and Pan's and CoM ran circles around Babel.

Did any of you even see The Lives of Others? I doubt it. I've seen both. Pan's was NOT robbed--the Lives of Others is a masterpiece.

I honestly hope Nolan does do the Tesla-Edison story. On the DVD he mentions that he didn't think he could do justice to the story. It's a fascinating bit of American history that people just seem to have forgotten. I think Tesla's genius deserves more than the 15 minutes he got in The Prestige. He was one of America's truly great visionaries, at least on par with Edison, yet only a fraction of the people who know Edison as a household name know Nichola Tesla. The man invented AC current, The Radio and envisioned the use of Radar 40 years before the British used it in WWII. He was so far ahead of his time that many of his idea's were discounted as ridiculous until people figured out 30 or 40 years later that he was right. Sorry I've gone on a bit.

I have a feeling that 20 years from now nobody will remember The Lives Of Others while many people will be buying special edition boxsets of Pan's Labyrinth (a classic film). It's a pity it didn't win the oscar...

mos def. the prestige was overlooked ... nolan is a fantastic director; maybe, like scorsese, it will take the oscars far too long to catch up with him.

In 3 years no one will know about Pan's Labyrinth that is what happens to flavor of the month type moives. It was not a good movie, only Del Toro fluffers like it.
