Orlando Bloom Believes in Angels & Demons?
From Mirkwood to Vatican City?
So, now that he's ostensibly finished with two of the biggest trilogies of the 21st century, what's next for Orlando Bloom? A few minor roles, perhaps? A low-budget film or two? Not by a long shot, according to Cinemablend's Josh Tyler, who claims to have the scoop on Bloom's next role.
According to an anonymous source, Bloom is negotiating for a part in Angels & Demons, the upcoming prequel to last summer's Tom Hanks mullet documentary The Da Vinci Code. Though reviews for Da Vinci were overwhelmingly negative, it grossed over $200 million at American theaters -- and given that the film was based on a book that was itself a sequel, a return to the screen was inevitable. Tom Hanks, director Ron Howard, and screenwriter Akiva Goldsman are all reprising their original roles.
Though there's no word on which character Bloom might play -- and although Cinemablend also claims Gisele Bundchen will be co-starring -- Angels & Demons is scheduled for a January 2008 release, so all this casting chatter should be settled soon enough.

on Aug 02 2007 11:06 AM Haha, "mullet documentary". Very nice. And Orlando Bloom and Gisele Bundchen in the same movie? So much for realism. Tom Hanks will look like a wax candle next to those two. (Reply to this) |

on Aug 02 2007 11:07 AM My guess for his role is the Pope's apprentice, the Cammallaro or whatever it's called (Reply to this) |

on Aug 02 2007 11:14 AM The Camerlengo... an interesting part which he will undoubtedly turn into something very shallow. (Reply to this) |

on Aug 02 2007 11:25 AM Jp: It was a small little independent trilogy know as something like Pirates of the Caribbean, or at least I think its called that. (Reply to this) |

on Aug 02 2007 11:37 AM I wonder if they'll Bloom carry a sword in this movie, since that's about all he's good for, he sucks it so hard. (Reply to this) |

on Aug 02 2007 11:41 AM I hated the first one, one of the worst films of last year. And Bloom and Bundchen sure as hell aren't going to help me get excited about this one. That's good though, let actors I like go make something else. (Reply to this) |

on Aug 02 2007 11:55 AM In reply to this comment (#1003454) The first movie wasn't that bad. It was based on a really terrible, over-rated book that I always thought was written with the movie in mind. So in that sense, it was okay. Angels and Demons is pretty much the same crappy book, with almost an identical plot. It's amazing how dumbed down those books are, yet so popular. And I can't believe I spent a couple days reading them (they're strangely compelling, yet frustrating). (Reply to this) |
on Aug 02 2007 11:59 AM The Da Vinci Code was entertaining, and I'll take rumors of Bloom in A&D over Bundchen any day. Don't discount Orlando so quickly, he's a very capable actor. He should be considered for the Camerlengo for sure! (Reply to this) |

on Aug 02 2007 12:09 PM Angels and Demons was, in my opinion, a much better book than The Da Vinci Code. Hopefully the book will translate well. (Reply to this) |

on Aug 02 2007 12:23 PM how can you predict that we have already had 2 or the greatest trilogies in the 21st century when we've only been in said century for close to 7 years? it's like people say, "best movie of the year" on January 15th. And while LotR I can see making it, pirates of the Caribbean will definitely not be in the top I'm betting. (Reply to this) |

on Aug 02 2007 01:00 PM gisele...the victoria secret angel that got canned...is in a movie called angels and demons, ha...thats ironic. i thought the first one was decent, i just didn't like all the "don't see it cuz jesus wouldn't wantcha to!!" bs that surrounded it. the protests, the jesus freaks giving all these "facts" as to why it can't be true. jesus people...giving facts, more irony. anyway...nice point somebody made about the sword and bloom. i liked everything he's done WITH a sword but the one or two movies without...were just blah. as long as hanks doesn't have that horrible hairdo that Nic Cage later borrowed...its all good, and i'll see it. on Aug 02 2007 05:08 PM Correct me if i am wrong, but I hated the Da Vinci Code. Not for it's entertainment, but for the interpretations that it made about God. And this is coming from a man who was a homosexual, yes if you took World History, you would know that Da Vinci was gay, and in my opinion, stupid. He painted a female picture of him (The Mona Lisa). He was confused. (Reply to this) |
