This sequel to the 2004 hit GARFIELD: THE MOVIE maintains that film's clever intermingling of live action supporting cast with a CGI-animated Garfield, that self-centered, lasagna-quaffing feline, famed of newspaper comic strips by Jim Davis. Though the title is a riff from Dickens, the story here is actually copped from Mark Twain's THE PRINCE & THE PAUPER. While tagging along to England with his lovely vet girlfriend (Jennifer Love Hewitt), Garfield's owner John Arbuckle (Breckin Meyer) inadvertently brings Garfield (voiced by Bill Murray) along, where he winds up being mistaken for Prince (voiced by Tim Curry), the royal cat of a lordly estate. There's a plot afoot to steal Prince's lands and title, orchestrated by the nefarious Dargis (Billy Connolly) and it's up to Garfield to save the day, that is if he can get his face out of the lasagna long enough. Connolly brings a contagious sense of malicious fun to his role as the bad guy, and Bill Murray fans will be licking their whiskers over his droll take on Garfield's lazy anti-heroics. A roster of top British actors lends their voices to some animals on the estate, including: Bob Hoskins, Richard E. Grant, and Jane Horrocks. Fluffy and friendly overall, this is fine family fare, rated PG for some cheeky bathroom humor. [More]

Reviews for Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties
When the hero of a movie is so greedy, obnoxious and selfish that you find yourself rooting for the bunny-hunting bad guy, something is off in a fundamental way.
after the atrocity that was Garfield: The Movie, I find myself much more forgiving and able to lower my expectations to the point this is at least watchable
A lively sense of the ridiculous and grounding in fantasy makes the Garfield sequel chortling and fluffy fun - a nicely ladled script that dishes out a case of mistaken identity, talking animals and Fawlty Tower-esque Billy Connolly
Your kids may beg and plead with you to take them to Garfield 2, but when they become teenagers you'll get the blame for acquiescing.
Yet another Hollywood kids’ film subscribing to the offensive stereotype that Britain is peopled with aristocrats who live on vast estates and are waited on by a devoted and subservient staff.
A lazily plotted, disappointing sequel with very few laughs but Murray's comic performance ensures that it's just about watchable.
It's exactly like the comic strip that inspired it: colorless, inoffensive, and wholly forgettable.
It's too bad that curiosity didn't kill this particular cat. However, the rest of us will find more stimulating time mindlessly playing with a ball of yarn.
The first film was one of the worst movies I've ever seen, its sequel though is simply a dull family feature. An improvement I guess
Kids might enjoy some of the routine lowbrow slapstick and zany animal antics on display here. Adults will find it tedious going.
This movie is mediocrity incarnate. Watching it I felt brain cells leaping to their deaths like so many lemmings.
It's really unnerving to have to sit through a second Garfield when the first was just so excruciating. But alas, here we are again--and now there's two of them. Joy.
