on Aug 05 2008 07:23 AM The only way this happens is if it goes straight to video. I can't even see Brendan Fraser doing this. (Reply to this) |

on Aug 05 2008 08:10 AM coo, i'm game for a 5th mummy movie. just execute it a little better, PLEASE? some of the stuff just seemed rushed and they didn't take the time to do it well. and tell bello to make the part her own. she seemed to try to portray it like the first two movies and it didn't work that well. hopefully it'll glide into a decent box office # and make alot on dvd (Reply to this) |

on Aug 05 2008 08:26 AM So this guy is completely oblivious to the fact he put out a piece of garbage. He has no respect for what his predecessor put down, this feels very Schumacher-esque (how that director destroyed what Tim Burton created in his first two Batman movies). I truly hope they either stop making these or leave Brendan Fraser and John Hannah out of it and go with the kid and make a boring friggin movie on his own, in freakin Peru. Stephen Sommers (original director of first two), please come back and fix this or bury it until someone else can? We forgive you for Van Helsing and are excited about your upcoming G.I. Joe, but don't let them desecrate your first and best franchise. (Reply to this) |

on Aug 05 2008 08:28 AM NO, NO, NO!!! A 4th? I have finally been convinced there is no talent left in Hollywood. (Reply to this) |

![]() on Aug 05 2008 09:56 AM WTF???? Cmon man...is this dude a fool or what? The movie made around 40 million opening weekend and had a production cost of about 150 million...doesnt he get the hint?? Your movie was GARBAGE...And I actually like Mummy 1 and Mummy 2 (Reply to this) |
![]() on Aug 05 2008 10:19 AM Shatter, Mummy 2 sucked arse. It was really bad, and the CGI was horrific. That film should've never been made. (Reply to this) |

on Aug 05 2008 10:34 AM I'm all for another mummy movie, but for god sakes, just pick up the pace and add some genuine humor. The 3rd one was just not funny. Or fun. (Reply to this) |

on Aug 05 2008 10:38 AM The first two were great, but DE was awful and a big reason for that was Cohen! (Reply to this) |
|
on Aug 05 2008 10:40 AM I would only be game for it if they got decent supporting actors for this next one. The idea that Brendan Fraser tried to keep the series alive, and it was only killed by all of the new actors just saddens me. He and John Hannah need to reunite with Oded Fehr (Ardeth Bay from the first two,) and just have it be a guys movie. (Reply to this) |

on Aug 05 2008 10:54 AM People can respectfully disagree on Mummy Returns, I really enjoyed it (despite the fake looking Scorpion King at end), but if Mummy 2 "sucked arse" what does Mummy 3 do? Please, people, let's try to compare these films by degree, it can't be all or nothing. Mummy 3 was just plain awful, Mummy 2 can't be awful too (b/c it was a heck of a lot better). Maybe Mummy 2 was over the top and less scary than the 1st (not my opinion, but a legitimate sentiment), but it was 2-3x the movie Dragon Emperor was. (Reply to this) |
![]() on Aug 05 2008 11:22 AM When I told my brother about this movie, he said this in response: The Mummy movies are a travesty to modern film-making. Brendan Fraser sucks enough without these movies. With these movies, he has come to supersede the word "sucks" itself, as in "Hey, that movie really Brendan Frasered." I can't say I disagreed. (Reply to this) |
![]() on Aug 05 2008 12:33 PM Shatter, I didn't put myself through the pain of seeing the 3rd. The second was a rehash of the first and the third looks like a desperate attempt to make some sort of trilogy marketing push. That's all. I think the only good movie that Brendan Fraser has made in my opinion was 'Bedazzled', and that wasn't that great. (Reply to this) |

on Aug 05 2008 12:49 PM Why? (Reply to this) |

on Aug 05 2008 12:55 PM The first Mummy was a respectable, mid-budget farce which ripped off from the (original) Indy franchise. The second Mummy was a less-respectable, higher budget farce which ripped off from the FIRST Mummy AND the (original) Indy franchise--for example, In the first, they had a wall of SAND with Arnold Vosloo's (Imhotep's) face swallowing Fraser's character. In the second, they had a wall of WATER with Arnold Vosloo's face swallowing Fraser's character. This third movie is a respect-proof rip off of EVERYTHING that came before it in the franchise, AND the Indy franchise, and I haven't figured out how yet, but I also suspect it ripped off Mamma Mia, as well. It is a testament to the 'Sucktacity' of this latest movie that it has people yearning nostalgically for the first two. The day when Stephen Sommers achieves greatness because a successor blows superior chunks is a day... that is here, now. Let's just get Stephen Sommers to team up with Brett Ratner to direct the new JLA movie, featuring a Rick O'Connell as the Mummy/bad guy and a cast of unknown early twenty-somethings as the Justice League so we can all just commit cult suicide and be done with it. on Aug 05 2008 12:57 PM Rob Cohen needs to get clue. DON'T MAKE MOVIES. Especially sequels to worse-than-bad ones that didn't need to made in the first place. This just ruined my day.... (Reply to this) |
|
on Aug 05 2008 01:18 PM The horrible thing about Mummy 3 was that the plot/story actually wasn't that bad; but the acting/dialogue was craptastic! Obviously, the blame must be placed on Cohen, since, at least some of the actors have done good work before. (Reply to this) |
