on Aug 07 2008 06:49 AM That would be awesome, if it were true. Would help link the old trilogy and the new trilogy together. I think they need to do it and should do it, especially with the success of the Sarah Conner chronicles (people care as much about her character and relationship w/ John as the end of the world). The movie needs heart, if not in the bleak future, perhaps in flashbacks. (Reply to this) |

![]() on Aug 07 2008 06:50 AM I think it would be a mistake to ignore the Sarah Connor Chronicles. It actually is a pretty good show. It is a much better sequel than the 3rd movie. They should've hired the writers from the show to continue the franchise and let it tie in. Although I am a huge fan of Linda Hamilton. I would love to see her come back. It is too bad they couldn't get her for the show, although the new woman does a good job. (Reply to this) |

on Aug 07 2008 07:37 AM I like Linda Hamilton. I think having her in the movie could only help. (Reply to this) |

on Aug 07 2008 09:30 AM BAD RT!!!!! 1. CHUD sucks! Please stop linking to them. 2. This is just an article about Chud claiming the whole idea is probably wrong, and ripping on some other site. UGH! (Reply to this) |
|
on Aug 07 2008 12:48 PM I agree, CHUD does suck(how can they not like Batman Begins/The Dark Knight?) However, it would be awesome A)If Linda Hamilton came back, and it IS awesome that B)Jonathan Nolan is helping with rewrites, which does indeed up this new film's credibility cache considerably. Also, for Executive-Boss: This movie is supposed to be ignoring the stupidity that was Terminator 3. (Reply to this) |

on Aug 07 2008 01:17 PM to adress what this guy complains about (and then does) in his article, the studio reps and agents act all mad about 'unsubstantiated rumors' but really they just make them up and float them around the web as cost-free market research to decide whether or not they want to actually make the moves. hey, i'll play along. as far as continuity with the TV show, it's completely irrelevant. not saying the show is bad, haven't seen it, but i do know that it's not a big enough hit to write around it for the movie. It's safe to assume that people going to 'Salvation' have seen the other movies, and if not, the flashbacks will help, but the viewership of the show is too spotty to depend on for storytelling purposes. can't say i'm surprised that the script is getting retooled on the daily (though they could do a lot worse than having john nolan as a script doctor). when McG first started talking about the sequencing of events in the film, it was clear that he had no clue about the timeline or history created by the first three installments. it's not all that tricky though. the story's big events are basically spaced ten years apart. 1985: First Terminator hunts Sarah 1995: Second Terminator hunts John (10 years old) (1997: would've been Judgment Day, but was avoided due to the events of T2) 2007(ish): Third Terminator hunts John (approx. 22 years old) Judgment Day is inevitable and occurs. 2018: Setting of 'Salvation,' John is about 33. 2029: 'year of darkness' from which first two Terminators were sent. We see John here in T2 looking weathered and older, which fits, as he would be around 44 years old. 2032: year from which third Terminator was sent back. I'd love to see Hamilton reprise the role, up there with Ripley in terms of sheer female @ss kicking, but they could also throw a common filter over clips from the previous films as a dream sequence or something, if they couldn't land her. oh and one more note on ***-kicing. expect Ahnold's replacement to be forever known as Ronald ***-Kickinger as the soon reviews start trickling in. figured i'd just call it now. ![]() on Aug 07 2008 03:01 PM I understand what you are saying about the show dahluzz, but it is actually really good, and obviously written with care and respect for the first two films. If they say fu** you to it with the McG films then it will kill the show and that will kind of suck being that I doubt McG has a whole lot of respect for storytelling. (Reply to this) |
![]() on Aug 07 2008 03:03 PM On another note, the show is still so early they could write around the fourth movie and still carve it's own style. (Reply to this) |
